Mutiny on the Renown!

Fifth episode = v. good. Captain Sawyer frightened me. Dr. Clive made me want to hit something. Wellard needs a hug. Did no one else see the Horatio/Wellard in that one scene?

Archie is just so adorable. I am prepared to weep tonight when I watch the sixth episode.

I've been reading "The Runaway Jury" by John Grisham. I quite enjoyed the movie, and the book is also excellent. What bothers me is the fact that they changed the nature of the trial from the tobacco industry (in the book) to a gun case (in the movie). Just to make money and not offend any smokers out there. I take offense at people who take offense. It's like slash. I have no problem with slash, in fact I quite enjoy it, but I do have a problem with people who have a problem with it.

Just a note: if you don't know what slash is, you probably don't want to know, so don't ask me, 'cause I won't tell you. I do have a reputation in RL, you know.

Retribution

So, I watched the last Hornblower episode. I am numb. I am shocked and dismayed without any hint of a joke about it, thankyouverymuchElizabeth. I think I must have spent the last half hour sobbing. This annoyed my brother to no end.

Nae: What? WHAAAT?! Wellard can't die! I love Wellard!
Robert: SHUT UP HE'S NOT GOING TO DIE!
Nae: HE IS SHOT THROUGH THE CHEST, YOU MORON! OF COURSE HE'S GOING TO DIE! *sobs bitterly*
Robert: SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!
Nae: OH GOD WAAAAH ARCHIE IS DYING!
Robert: SHUT UP AND LET ME WATCH!
Nae: CAN'T YOU SEE HE'S DYING?!
Robert: *smack*
Nae: *double-smack* Return to your seat.
Robert: It's a movie! It's fake!
Nae: But I love them!

Watching continues as normal, until the testimony, at which point Nae bursts into tears.

Robert: Shut. Up.
Nae: You don't even care! You don't even care! Archie, wah!
Robert: Shut up!

And then Nae continues crying until the end, at which point she switches off the VCR. The "Fairly Oddparents" is on.

Nae: Oh, my God. That was sad.
Robert: It's fake.
Fairly Oddparents: *something about super-intelligent cockroaches*
Nae: Oh, hey, I remember that episode.
Robert: *laughs* Yeah, that was a good one.
Nae: YOU DON'T EVEN CARE THAT MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS WERE KILLED!
Robert: *cheerfully* Nope.

I refrained from delivering smackdown.

Also, I think I frightened Elysse today, while playing a little game of word association in relation to our various fandoms, e.g., Artemis Fowl, Harry Potter, and LOTR.

Elysse: Square.
Nae: C-Cube.
Elysse: Circle.
Nae: Palantir! Squee!
Elysse: Oval.
Nae: Eye of Sauron!
Elysse: Stick.
Nae: Phallic object.
Elysse: What?!

I am corrupt.

Hmm.

Since I might not be on later this weekend - happy early birthday, Elizabeth. I promised you chapter two. Instead, you get three scenes, one of which is actually from chapter three. Why? Because I can, that's why. Also: behold my first LJ cuts.
