I am back from the serene north, which was less serene than one might expect; it had far too many people.

I may or may not have been stung by a bee. No bee was spotted in the vicinity before or after the attack, but I cannot think what else it could have been. I pretty much swooned into my hammock for fifteen minutes until I could get a cold soda on the wound to numb it, and then hobbled into the trailer and flung myself prostrate, only rousing to prop my foot up on my heap of blankets, and offer what crossword puzzle help I could when my dear Ashley graciously joined me inside. After a few hours the intense pain died down, and then it only throbbed once in awhile, and now it mostly itches something fierce.

Pretty awful, for something that didn't even bleed.

But that was definitely the lowlight of the trip, which was a good deal of fun otherwise, and it would have been nice to be there without so very many tourists and their stupid electric lamps, scaring away the darkness. I found a hat on a rock by the lake, but Ashley said I couldn't keep it. Also I met a cockapoo named Sophie and she licked my neck and it was the cutest thing ever, and I want one. (Sadie did not lick my neck, but she did shove me off my own pillow when I went in to read earlier.)
