What the hell's wrong with our street today? Earlier there was an ambulance and a sort of mini fire truck outside Pyrae's house, and then the fire chief car came by. (Have not heard from Pyrae, either. Panic is not helping current stomachache.) And now all that good stuff is down the street. I have seen more police cars today than I usually see in a month. Weird.

Eep. It didn't even occur to me that you might see the ambulance and think it was for our house. I feel like I should apologize even though it's not my fault they randomly parked there. Everyone's okay here. The problem was further down the street, I think.

Yeah, I figured. It was the Boy who thought it was for your house.

What's with all the police cars, anyway?

I don't know. I guess something happened. It can't have been that urgent, the driver of the fire dept. truck spent at least a half-hour talking to the ambulance drivers outside my house in a very leisurely fashion. I'm curious as to why those two had to park so far down the street from all the others.

And then there was that police car that went screaming past not long ago.

But there wasn't any visible smoke, so can't have been really bad.

I must have missed that. Whoa.

If there were more police cars than fire trucks, and I'm not sure there was a real fire truck at all, it was probably an accident, not a fire, don't you think? I don't know what kind of accident would warrant a bunch of policemen and an unused ambulance...and we'll probably never find out. I don't know the people down there.

Don't forget the sort-of fire truck and the fact that the fire chief's car was here for awhile.

Carbon monoxide gas?

I guess it could have been. I'm bad at this sort of thing.
