I watched "Mutiny" and "Retribution" again just now. Somehow, it was even more depressing the second time, perhaps because I was not righteously indignant over Wellard's fate for the last thirty or so minutes of the movie.

The moments when I couldn't keep from sobbing:

When Wellard was lying on the floor with blood on his shirt and dribbling from his mouth and he looked so sad and darling, and basically the last thing he said was "He said I was brave."

When Pellew said about heroes and Horatio was all "Archie was a hero, and no one will know his name!" and it was just so sad.

And, of course, the entire conversation between Horatio and Archie.

And Hobbs didn't seem so bad anymore, and I even found myself rather liking him, and Sawyer made me sad. I was still glad when Randall died. I rather liked the leader of the Free Army. Ortega had the possibility of being cute.

Really, though. Hornblower has taken over my life.

And now, it's been a half-hour since it ended and I'm still feeling so very upset, because it was perfect in every way even though my favorite characters died. And I want to own those videos and I want to see it all again and I want to see the third movie. I want to laugh and cry and squee like an idiot over all the hotness. I want to watch "The Scarlet Pimpernel" - actually watch it - because it's the same time period and Jamie Bamber, who played Archie, is in it. I want to read the books, which are supposedly quite good.

Just an update: my birthday is April 6. All I want are Hornblower videos and Terry Pratchett books and fanfic for my original novel. Those who write me fanfic will be fangirled and hugged and loved forever. Those who buy me Hornblower will probably be forced to watch with me and deal with my emotionalness. Those who get me Terry Pratchett will be hugged and loved, and I have to read Night Watch again. Now I shall review the various books I have read recently.

Mm, Night Watch. It is by far my favorite Discworld book. I read it twice in a row when I first got it, and the end makes me cry, and the middle makes me think, and the beginning is just funny. Vetinari is a genius. Vimes is lovable.

I finished "Runaway Jury" and I really enjoyed it. Without getting too spoiler-y, I must say that I was rather expecting a different verdict. The perils of seeing the movie first, I guess. I loved it. I really did.

In Sue Grafton's mystery series with Kinsey Millhone, I am on "G is for Gumshoe." I have read it before, but I can't remember who done it. I think an old lady dies, though. That's all I remember. And there was wallpaper involved. Hmm.

Someday my obsession with Hornblower will end. But it will not be this day.
