First, the non-spoilery stuff. Yes, it's better than the first. Yes, I am totally in love with James Franco/Harry Osborn. No, I still don't like Kirsten Dunst particularly, but I survived her close-ups and indeed squeaked quite a lot for her. Yes, it deserved those three and a half stars.
First up, the credits. Beautifully done, lovely pics, but if they do a recap of the entire series for every one of the six movies they're planning according to some source, I don't remember what, well...it could get quite long.
The swinging between buildings? It doesn't actually get old. It's just so beautiful and seamless that it really doesn't matter that there's only so much you can do with it.
Tobey Maguire, much love. He's so stunning and such a perfect Spiderman. And the glasses!
James Franco, more love. Love love love. Harry was always my favorite character and he's gorgeous and angsty. My only problem is that I hate the Green Goblin costume and I hope that if he decides to go supervillain on us, he picks a different villain to be.
But how amazingly hot was it when he screamed, "No!" and threw the knife? Amazingly amazingly hot, that's how hot.
Doc Ock! Ooh, Molina is a great villain. I winced a bit right at first, with the whole "Voices? Talking to me in my head?" thing because come on, there had to be a better, more believable way to get that information across. People don't say, out loud, things like that. But other than that momentary slip, for which the writers must be blamed...mm, lovely.
The speeding subway car! I was doing the self-hug thing Daniel does in Stargate and actually digging my nails into my sides. And oh, oh I love those people. Oh. And I'd forgotten about Doc Ock, and I jumped when he reappeared, and eee.
I also forgot Mary Jane right at the end, and then when they showed her and I suddenly realized that she knew...oooh.
Only thing is that so many people know now. I mean, really. All we've got left is Aunt May and Newspaper Guy, and I think May might already know, or at least have a guess.
But, ooh. Stunning. And I loved the use of the burning building, it reminded me of the first movie, and I loved how creepy the whatever-it-was building was at the end, and it just gives me shivers to look back and think that it was so perfect. And I must see it again. Soon.
